SILVOZIN ANTIBIOTIC TULLE

Silvozin Antibiotic Tulle

(Silver Sulfadiazine BP)

Silvozin is topical antibacterial tulle with an active ingredient which belongs to the group of antibiotic medicines called sulfonamides impregnated on a fabric. The dressing is used as a primary wound contact layer in the management of burns.

Indications

Silvozin is used to prevent infection in severe burns. other types of wounds, such as pressure sores and leg ulcers, may also benefit from the application of Silvozin tulle.

Contra Indications

1. You have any allergies to sulpha drugs or any other inactive especially lanolin.

2. You are pregnant or intend to become pregnant Silvozin should not be used during the last month of pregnancy.

3. You are breast-feeding or intend to breast-feed sulfonamides are excreted in the milk in small amounts and should be used with caution in breast-feeding mothers.

4. You know you are glucose-6- phosphate deficient

5. You have or have had any other medical conditions, including:

• Low white blood cell count:

• Problems with your liver and or kidney. Silvozin should be used with caution in patients with poor liver or kidney function.

Method of Use

The wound should be cleaned with a suitable sterile solution i.e. normal saline; a single layer of Silvozin tulle should then be applied and covered with an absorbent pad, held in place with a tape or a bandage as appropriate. when used to dress ulcers, Silvozin tulle should be shaped to fit the crater and not allowed to extend over the surrounding skin.

Frequency of Change

The frequency of dressing change is entirely depending upon the nature and condition of wound. Infected wounds with heavy exudates should be dressed daily.

Warnings

Cross sensitization to silver sulfadiazine may occur in patients known to be allergic to chemically related sulpha drugs. In normal use, absorption of the antibiotic from Silvozin tulle is negligible; however, where large areas of the body are being treated, the above-mentioned contraindications should be considered.

Presentation

Silvozin tulle is presented individually wrapped in an aluminum peel pouch, manufactured under aseptic condition.

Storage

Silvozin Tulle should be stored in a cool dry and dark place.
